Review Summary: hip-hop's album of 2011. yea, i said it.
my dream car is an 1981 blacked out monte carlo. i have always had an admiration for classic cars but when i saw that monte carlo in the denzel washington movie; training day, i fell in love. although i love zooming on the freeway and weaving in and out of traffic, sometimes i want to take it slow.
i want to roll up a few doobies and cruise through the city bumping some old school snoop. i want to roll down the windows and pop the hydraulics so im sitting a lil higher than normal. i want to feel like there are no problems and that i should just take life as it comes and look up.
this album is my soundtrack to that life.
covert coup is classic hiphop/soul lover's dream album. Alchemist produced the entire album and gave it a bit of an old school new york feel. the beats bump, with heavy bass throughout, booms and claps galore, great use of samples. he switches from funky(smoke break) to old school to beats with running pianos (scottie pippen ft. freddie gibbs).
with curren$y's lyrics. you cant help but be put in the mood to do something you enjoy. to chill out, not take life as serious as you do and do what you love. throughout covert coup, spitta raps about the good life and about how he got there. he goes off and tells stories on how he had to grind to get to where he is now. he raps with a slower, weeded out flow that rides perfectly with the beats.
this album is worth the price of $0.00, so check it out.
