Normally, this is where a first time reviewer would write something along the lines of "This is my first review so please be nice!". Well i guess I just did but thats beside the point. Just know that you don't need to be nice to me, just keep it as constructive as you can if you don't mind. That being said, on to the review.
Also, the songs that are skipped are the songs that aren't particualarly spectacular in my opinion.

Since they came around in 1994, Korn had released 6 full length studio albums up to this point.Greatest Hits Vol. 1 Is, you guessed it, a collection of hits from these six albums, as well as a cover song, a remake of a pink floyd song, and a remix of Freak On A Leash. The music is obviously as its always been with downtuned 7-string guitars and a surprisingly audible bass along with slight hip-hop inspired drumming. The musical ground of Korn's covered on this cd ranges from their first single Blind up to their latest release the Cameo cover Word Up!, the albums opener. Korn did a pretty good job with the cover in my opinion, even though the music is pretty much just a port (obviously heavier) than the original.

The next offering on the album is Another Brick In The Wall (parts 1, 2, and 3) musically it strongly resembles the original but lyrically its completely different. Davis chooses to write his own lyrics for the first part of the song, dealing with what I'm guessing to be a child deprived of his father figure. So now the actual singles/hits come in to the mix.

Did My Time was put out on the soundtrack to the second Tomb Raider movie. The song starts out with a single guitar quickly joined by the rest of the instruments, then a quick descending riff which becomes the pre-verse and chorus riff. Trash starts off with the full band with the verses being carried mainly by the base with the guitars suporting with high pitched riffs with Johnathan whispering the verses. Falling Away From Me is the one Korn song that everybody should be familiar with, since it was their most comercially succesfull song up to this point, with Freak On A Leash being second. Twist is basically filler clocking in at under one minute with Johnathan growling incoherently with a pseudo-chorus of the word twist. the guitars provide the same low end riff the ocasional dissonant chord throughout the song. A.D.I.D.A.S, or All Day I Dream About Sex, is one of my favorite songs on here, even though its one of the shortest. The lyrics are fun to listen to even though they don't mean a whole lot and the guitars actually provide some pretty interesting stuff on this track, with once again the ever so present bass in the background.

The next three songs are the first three singles Korn released. The guitars leave something to be desired but the bass is as audible as ever in the background providing a nice little groove to the songs. The lyrics are typicall earlier Korn with Johnathan's lyrics mostly being about social outcasts or escaping from reality in Blind. The lyrics to Shoots and Ladders are mostly from nursery rhymes which I found interesting, the first verse being Ring Around the Rosy. I interpreted the lyrics as being about an abusive childhood though in a direct manner, but others probably interpret it differently. My only gripe with this disk is the inclusion of the Dante Ross remix of Freak On A Leash this song is an extremely bland version of the original and does absolutely nothing for the album. Thoughtless should have been stuck in there instead of this in my opinion.

The recomended tracks are obviously the ones that I mentioned, and the ones that should be skipped are, well, the ones i skipped. So I hope you enjoyed this "little" review.

Final Verdict 4/5

This has some of Korn's stronger songs on here, but also contains some of their average/bad songs too. Overall it averages out to being a mediocre release.

I wrote a little something about this a while ago. It't not even a greatest hits cd. It's a cd of all the singles they've ever released minus the remix and Another Brick. Its ok though if you like Korn. Its a pretty meh...... cd.

Im not into Korn as much as i used to be, but this CD was pretty good just cuz it had SOME (not all) of Korns most intense songs.

Hmm, I might check it out. Nice review. Honestly I thought the "another brick in the wall" remix had the same lyrics, but it is well done. I still think falling away from me is thier best, though. This Message Edited On 05.15.06

Nice review, I agree completely with your opinion to cut the remix and add thoughtless. My opinion is to cut Somebody Someone, the remix of Freak on a Leash, Alone I Break, and Twist. Add Faget, Good God, Reclaim My Place, and Thoughtless. Nice first review. I totally agree with Falling Away From Me as thier best. Y'all Want a Single is a distant second.

I kinda liked the remix. They could of cut Somebody Someone and Twist and add Thoughtless and either Faget or Dead Bodies Everywhee IMO.

This is bland, boring & talentless. Korn has and always will be.

Decent review. There seemed to be parts not there. If you get what I mean.
