Review Summary: In summary, fuck summaries. Read the review if you want to know what the review says.

If you boiled down metal to its essential elements, Soulfly are the scientists wearing lab coats. Indeed, if one gazes into a crystal ball there’s no doubt that a demon would recommend Soulfly to you. This *** is as metal as metal gets. Check out Seek ‘N’ Strike for the most nu-metal song you’ll ever hear in your life. It’s quite heavy and interesting, like a mighty Sasquatch rubbing himself out. My nasal cavity might always feel weird, but when I listen to this album I forget my worries. It’s just Soulfly doing what they do best, which is playing heavy guitars and yelling/growling like a savage caveman who had his video game controller stolen by his brother. Let’s not mention yet also mention that snare drum that sounds like someone slapping a mouse with a pan, and adding the whiff of vanilla bean flavouring. So satisfying.

The issue with this album is it’s no different than any other Soulfly album, and the tribal elements are mixed badly like putting mustard on cookies. The tribal parts mostly serve as filler between the riffs, or it’s just a percussive addition. Blahhh. That *** is like when I find out in the morning on my way to work that some dog peed in the elevator. It makes me wanna murder the owner of that dog, and likewise Soulfly deserve a scolding, cause these songs really do blend together at some point much like how this is definitely one of the longer sentences I’ve written recently if memory serves correctly like usual. I like this album quite a bit, but do I love it? No. It’s Primitive Part 2 but more generic. End of review.

"It’s quite heavy and interesting, like a mighty Sasquatch rubbing himself out."

This sentence is to analogies what ducks are to chess.

Tree of Pain is certainly an attempt at something new (although I'm not quite sure what exactly).

The rest is standard Soulfly for the era. Seek 'N' Strike is a helluva tune.
