Though the martial drumming and doom-laden vocals are there, this is not the apocalyptic folk band Death in June would turn into. I like their 90's and contemporary material, but this early work is brilliant! I wan't even really aware that they began as this post-punk band much more reminiscent of Joy Division and Bauhaus. Not to say this is a copycat LP, its got a distinct personality and some almost 'pop,' moments. I'm a bit bummed that I didn't listen to this years ago!
