Review Summary: i won't build you a safety net if you're just planning to fall in it

There’s a certain sober quality to Speak Low If You Speak Love’s new album (to whom we shall now refer to as SLIYSL because come on). The constantly beautiful instrumentation, ranging from lush to subtle, speaks to the solemn side of life. It’s like being on an open road on a Monday morning, waking up after the end of a long vacation or maybe a relationship going sour. The fact that Nearsighted can elicit such a clear image from me says quite a lot about it. The acoustic arrangements are calming and wistful. Horns and strings come through together multiple times throughout these tracks as flourishes, taking the songs to another plane that’s just easy to listen to and enjoy. A welcome surprise in variety comes from the electronic laden songs sprinkled throughout the album. Moments like “Safety Net” help breathe a different vibe that just meshes with the overall record in such a way that just makes me squirm with bouts of joy. The hushed experience of heartbreak and woes on display here is worth listening for sure, as this will most likely be one my favorite albums of the month.

thanks dude! hehe it's a little corny but this album is so soothing to me, i can't believe it got overlooked. i mean, sure, there was a lot last week. but this guy improved so much from his last effort that it's most definitely worth the listen.

I think I saw it, but in the site it was listed it didn't have good reviews so i skipped it in favour of other albums (you know I am trying to cut to 7 new releases a week). I will give it a quick check to see what is about.

What a truly horrendous name for a band.

That’s up there with adding an unnecessary proposition or to misnomer in a reference to locomotion or Black Malachite
