4.0 excellent | Pekke | April 13th 16 | Some pretty interesting post-punk, not causing massive walls of sound to convey abstract messages but sticking to some very simple soundscapes and singing about some very casual and familiar subjects with a very satiric and mocking approach. Like the name tells it is a very bland experience on the first listen, but the blandness kind of faded away for me and what I got to listen was a pretty tight punk album, that is IF you disregard the extremely stiff instrumentals and Kraftwerk-ish lyrics. Giving this a four in this case, Puff Pieces brings a very minimal style of post-punk that might be attractive to some, "Bland in D.C" was an interesting experience too, something that you can devote little time to, gain something worth your time, find new details in the music and come back to the album again sometime.
