that 4 note guitar riff in cross the breeze is some badass motherfuckin' playing
has anyone read the 33 1/3 guide for this btw? i found it unbearably pretentious but at least it got me into listening to this again

i have and i really disliked it
fun fact about the 33 1/3 series: I applied to do one on 'Laughing Stock'. Apparently they'll 'get back to me next January', which was a very diplomatic way of telling to fuck off i thought
anyway incredible album 4eva best in summer

they vary wildly in quality, but they're mostly good and nice things to have
but yeah wines, the one for this sounded like it was written by a liberal arts undergrad with too much time on his hands and a thesaurus either side of him. also he basically ignores all the lovely guitar stuff and focuses on the lyrics, which are probably the weakest part of this album

That was exactly my beef too!
The only ones in the series i've thought were illuminating were the Spiderland and Kid A ones. Not many of the writers seem willing to adopt a critical lens, which is a shame because the format is rife with potential
