Slaughter is great but it most definitely is NOT the definitive melodeath album.
How do I 5 a melodeath album? Same way you 5 a pop punk album (Alkaline Trio is great btw, I'm not hating). Subjective criteria.

I know some like Whoracle, but I don't feel the same emotion with it as I do TJR. There's something about the riffs, production, and direction of this album that really meshes with my brain
Whoracle is ok, but I never listen to it anymore. And trust me, I've heard whoracle over 100 times back in the days. The riffs are good but the emotional level of TJR is very deep for me

They clearly showed the greatest potential on this album, but I still jam to all of their stuff up to Clayman. Yeah Whoracle is a bit too thrashy for some but their lyrics and the mythic feel are very much apparent there.
