'Sky Valley' feels monolithic and is definitely that bit better than the albums either side of it.
'Red Sun' and 'Circus' are still essential though.
If you ranked them with the QOTSA albums I'd put this fourth...
1. Sky Valley
2. Songs for the Deaf
3. Red Sun
4. Circus
big'ish drop
5. QOTSA
6. Rated R
7. Lullabies
8. Clockwork
9. Era Vulgaris
10. New Roman
11. Villains
I could maybe sneak a few Garcia albums in there towards the bottom but won't this time ;)

hmm I would mostly agree doof, except I’d put Clockwork way up there, and I like Villains
Unida and Slo Burn were good bands, if a little derivative. I like all of their releases

'Clockwork' bores me a little bit but it's a decent 'mature' take on Homme's style
The highlights of 'Lullabies' are so good it just gets the nod over that one for me
I also really gig the QOTSA debut even if it feels a bit like a Homme solo project fleshed out

Interesting order, mine would be pretty close actually with some exceptions, (also, no Wretch?). I’d probably have something like:
1. Sky Valley
2. Clockwork
3. SFTD
4. Red Sun
5. Rated R
6. Circus
7. Wretch
8. Lullabies
9. QOTSA
10. New Roman
11. Villains
12. Era
Loosely anyway, nothing below a 3.5 imo

I can get Era at the bottom, some of it sounds jarring or unfinished
Has some big highlights though

QOTSA is such a completely different band it's hard to put them in the same rankings. Maybe the first QOTSA goes.
Here's the ranking, omitting QOTSA except for the first--and I would rank Kyuss main three over all QOTSA records, but that's a different matter. Anyway, the ranking:
1. Sky Valley
2. Circus
3. Red Sun
4. Unida
5. QOTSA
6. Muchas Gracias (the odds and sods Kyuss collection)
7. Vista Chino
8. Slo Burn
9. John Garcia (2014)
10. Wretch

Have you listened to The Great Divide? It’s not a real Unida album, but it sounds pretty good, lots of great songs on it

Yeah, but the recording sounds a bit rough, and the songs not quite fully formed or something. What do you think of it?

I should revisit that Unida album

Yes, the Unida album really holds up.

@trickert I dig it a lot. It delves hard into the grunge influence, a line toed by Kyuss and Garcia throughout most of his career up to that point, rather than the really straight stoner rock on display with Slo Burn and the previous Unida album. King and Slaylina go full Soundgarden and I love them
