I can separate the music from the artist yeah, but it's always a dissapointment when you see the artists you love have ideas that shitty

"who cares"

Many people care, if you don't that's alright, who cares anyway that you don't care and so on...

"I can separate the music from the artist yeah, but it's always a dissapointment when you see the artists you love have ideas that shitty"

Agreed hard. Sometimes, that ideas are the core of the lyrics and the lyrics are essential part of the album, so even if you want to separate them it's more difficult.

Tbh if they stated that they don't believe that shit anymore then it shouldn't really affect your judgement of them as individuals or as a band. Everyone has shit ideas and beliefs that they've barely ever even critically thought about but just adopted when they're younger. When I was a teen I used to be all 'corporations are baaad, brooooo, we just need split everything into pieces and share it evenly between all our brothers and sisters, broooo'. But now I have a more critically considered, balanced view of that shit as I have grown up and naturally evolved as a thing with a brain does. That is what Rush did. Don't be sad. It's all good.

Dimorphic, I see your point. They haven't clearly said they don't believe in that shit anymore. They tried in a very foggy way. Geddy keeps distance when he talks about Rand's inspiration and Neil still believes nowadays in the "freedom" Rand preached but finds her manipulative. Alex... is Alex, just pass him the guitar. Rush is a big, really big band and Neil Peart is a true legend, so partially agreed.

Ayn Rand is fucking trash. Doesnt stop this from being one of the few Prog Rock bands I can actually sit through without wanting to off myself out of boredom. Its not like individualists are even the worst of right-wing dingbats.

Best Rush. "La Villa" is one of Neil's percussive masterpieces.
