I can't stand some of the vocals here and the instrumentation is repetitive

I like the repeatative side of it. Honestly is one of the best songs here.

This ain't half bad but I must admit it gets a bit samey after the first few tracks. "Never Meant" is something of a masterpiece though.

Reminder that the crux of the bands sound was already present on the ep.

I've loved this for a while now but I'm finally having THAT listen with it and when I have that listen it becomes an all-timer.

I wish that were the case haha. More like my heart aching because that girl hasn't come into my life yet. The single life can be crushing sometimes.

This is good but the lyrics/songwriting/singing are pretty meh, would be nothing if the guitars didn't sound so great and it didn't have such a great atmosphere. There’s very little in the way of actual “emotion” for a supposedly “emo” album.

The atmosphere is a big part of what makes this special but I don't think I agree with it having little emotion but that could just be me projecting my own experience onto the singer. The songwriting can be a little juvenile but it rings with authenticity.

I can’t deny that it comes across as honest, but the lyrics just feel really generic in their expression of relationships, there’s little cohesion, it all feels like cut-up one-liners from a 16 year old’s notebook randomly spliced into songs without any consideration of narrative. And the vocals are pretty monotone and express little to me other than a generalized whiteboy melancholy. I can see why people relate to it but it’s far too nonspecific for me. I get it for the first three tracks but after that I don’t feel terribly engaged. Not that I don’t enjoy it, it’s certainly pleasant throughout and very listenable.

I get that. I can definitely agree with some of the lyrics. I think my penchant for being softer on debuts, in general, helps me be a little more lenient towards some of its flaws. It's an honest, if not a tad cliched, emo record from a bunch of young lads that I'm certain didn't expect to become as big and influential as they did. There isn't a lick of pretentiousness on here.
