If Mastodon were a better band Live, they would be the biggest metal band out there

I actually thought they were pretty great when I saw them. Still haven’t jammed this but I need to. Really didn’t care for the last one I jammed so I’ve been putting this off

I've seen them a few times - they were on point for the most part but out of the few times there were occasions where they could've been a lot better.

Has anyone else who heard Butler's intro on The Vanishing kinda wished Sabbath had let him do something similar on 13? I can't imagine Geezer would've been against the idea.
I know I did...

Also, wouldn't it be nice to see Iommi feature on one of their future releases?

I don't know my dudes, this album feels fine but I can't say I'm seeing all the 4+ ratings on here. Maybe it's because I like everything they've put out.
FWIW I also think CtS was their peak

That's pretty interesting actually!

think its meant to be an anchor, in the sea of whatever is going on at the bottom there

^ The Three Fates from legend (as referred to in the songbof that same title), riding something like a boat/anchor/whatever (as observed) that connotes the personification of death. A crucifixion association wouldn't necessarily be wrong, but not explicitly alluded to, I believe.
But yeah, all death related.

saw an interview on youtube with Brann where he explained it represents the 3 threads of existence: life, loss and destiny. The destiny is the end, signifying the end of life, hence, the scissors cutting the thread at that given point....

also, they included Brent's face in the album art just to the left of the bell hanging from the left hand with the scissors
