Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries.

That is all.

leviathan's actually grown on me a bit tbh, i used to hate the muddy production, but it adds to the feel of drowning or struggling in stormy waters, and therefore adds to the album concept. it's a great album, although if you're new to mastodon, i'd recommend starting with blood mountain and working backwards (counting "call of the mastodon" as their earliest).

Wow! simultaneously epic and compact, all that manic rhythm, crazy melody, lord of the rings-esque imagery. I think individually the songs pack a hell of a punch but it doesn't even compare to the album as a whole. It's like a hallucinogenic journey the likes of which unseen since Tool's Lateralus album.

Faith in metal= restored

I just bought this yesterday. I thought it was great.

The hidden track at the end made me laugh.

the best modern metal band out and This album is much better than levaithan, also glad to see that the hype on trivium is falling too who are a truly awful when they are eithier metalcore or ripping off metallica

I'm listening to this at the moment. As much as I like the album, I still prefer Leviathan, for the awesomeness of Aqua Dementia alone.

Colony of Birchmen is probably one of the best songs to be recorded from a Heavy Metal band in the past decade.

Oh, and Bladecatcher makes me go "what the fck" everytime I hear the crazy insane guitar part. This Message Edited On 01.04.07

i think the most pressing issue when talking about this album, is how the hell they're going to progress from here. it's gonna be fucking insane!

Well said, Chan.

I prefer this over Leviathan. The only thing Leviathan has over this album is Aqua Dementia, but Blood Mountain is better as a complete package.

Leviathan has some incredible tracks (Blood and Thunder, Seabeast, Hearts Alive to name a few)...but it also has some filler tracks (Naked Burn, I Am Ahab). Blood Moutain flows so much better. Leviathan is still excellent though.
