Yooo sorry I'm so late to the party!

"This remake is a thoroughly modern undertaking, embracing every nauseating aspect of contemporary production with loudness cranked to eleven. It's artificial. It's plastic. It's overbearing. Above all, it feels unnatural."

Perfect takedown of this amazingly bad re-rerecording. Really great writeup. I completely agree with everything you've said - the flaws were such a huge part of Count Your Blessings' overall atmosphere and identity. The original was never a perfect album, and I'm not even the biggest fan of it these days, but those imperfections made it feel authentic and tied to that specific moment in time. Haters will probably say it's just nostalgia, but idts. This is just so clean. So sanitized. I actually fucking despise it. Might be my least favourite album to receive hype since Ghosteen.

"It was truly the Wild West, with bands throwing every conceivable metal subgenre into a blender with metalcore and death metal to create some truly unholy concoctions."

Legitimately such an incredible time for music discovery for me. I remember first hearing these genres/subgenres back in high school and being blown away by what was out there. At the time I only had bands like Disturbed and Linkin Park in my sights. Limewire and Myspace were these portals to a whole new world of music I never knew existed.

The reception around this album reminds me of the recent revisionism of Creed/Limp Bizkit/Nickleback being good

Idk its crazy to me that deathcore gets shit on for decades and suddenly people turn around over updated production

Eh, this is just one album. But I agree it's goofy people didn't like this to begin with.

And as much as I hate to say it, Will Ramos may have ruined deathcore lol

Jesus Christ man, don’t lump the Bizkit in with those grotesque monstrosities. I get theres plenty to ridicule there but Creed and Nickelback are the worst of the worst.

I get they were a gateway band for many people, but they have never been it for me. Could also be a lil harsh there lol. I think for my personal tastes though, the Myspace era was my nu metal. Lived through all my favorite bands getting shit on by the metal/core "elite", so it's been really interesting seeing Myspace deathcore embraced positively in 2026. In the 2010s you couldn't even admit to liking deathcore without being roasted for liking fake metal or misconstrued as a misogynist

Creed rules, Limp rules, Nickelback sucks but they are earwormy. Dude knows how to write mass appeal
