Ian's dead pan vocals were off putting to me back then. It didn't take too long to appreciate them but at first, golly. Early 2000s me coming off (finding Sunny Day Real Estate) and just looking into a lot of music history in the vein of this kinda music. Joy Division certainly left a legacy.

I need to make a proper list of "classic albums I must hear" at some point soon, this one would definitely be at the top

Yea I would at the time I wound up getting a boxset it had both albums and a bunch of old Warsaw tracks and live tracks from JD. The price wasn't too much that I recall. The Boxset was called "heart and soul."

It's crazy that for how good this is, they managed to top it with CLOSER.

I've got about a 40-ish minute drive back home after I get off work. Should I listen to this album or Laughing Stock?

Unknown Pleasures? Closer? How about you discover some "unknown pleasures" and get "closer" to some hoes.
Also, @tec, 24 Hours is such a genius track.

^ I feel like sex jokes here is inappropriate. Especially where the name came from > Hoes? Is this the Godfather from WWF/E here saying. I got an offer for you, listen to "Closer" or I just took your property of six books and a penlight.
I can't believe I typed that, and I tried to make it a little wrestling funny. I feel like this album is definitely more fun.

It’s funny going back to classic albums like this one that birthed a genre, or at least popularized it. Everything is so much simpler here compared to later post-punk albums, but it’s still so enthralling

Joy Division is one of those groups where you can see the bare essentials of good songwriting on display. It doesn't take much.

Listening to this on the way to work, Shadowplay’s intro gave me legit chills

I looked and there is no review for the live "Preston" show. I got that cd so long ago. It's a concert where everything goes wrong and it still is really enjoyable. As the one soundoffer says. Everything is busted. The music was being played through the bass amp after awhile.
