title track sounds meme-y but if you read the lyrics it makes sense
Cauterized and lifted
Taken up too fast to die
Taken into the unknown

@futures I mean yeah that's why I've been critical of a band like ERRA in recent years, djent HAS indeed gone down the shitter this decade, but in the 2010s it was thriving. I've even been critical of recent Periphery material for being too predictable/boring too.

i like this, but the mad vocal work becomes a little annoying towards the end.

"My only criticism with this record is they rely a bit too heavily on that midpoint atmospheric clean passage in almost every song. It would bother me more except this album is all bangers so can't really complain."
I picked up on that too although it is really effective on Limb of Leviticus. I do like that Liminal Cypher flips that on its head by doing that mid-song breakdown. That was fucking awesome. I hope they keep working on their songwriting. I know the theme of this one is speed (and maybe their brains are just hardwired to play fast), but I think those glimpses of melody and atmosphere deserve a little more love. Basically I'll be waiting for their version of BI's Absolute Menswhere.

Exactly! Standout track for that reason imo

Tundra stop lying this is right up your alley, you just hate it because you found out that most like it and you can't bear the thought of liking something that most also like.

I liked their last records, but I have an issue with bands recycling the same thing with no changes album after album. This album has the exact same production, guitar tones, riff styles, vocals, as the last album. Nothing different whatsoever.

Tundra, the review for the very first 5.0 rating on your profile has this summary: "A Day To Remember tread the same ground with a new found energy"

i think i like this just as much as bleed the future. little less sweepy and a lot more melodic which really goes well with their sound. tons of really catchy underlying melodies especially in the hooks. little more chuggy and groovey too. well structured and memorable which is so rare for tech death. i think the clean sections are a bit better thought out and executed too. just a ton of fun that scratches a certain itch for me.
my favs after a few listens are red goliath, limb of leviticus and the t/t

This one is significantly more proggy/melodic, so I wouldn't say this is the same thing.

@christbait in that instance, I felt it was a noticeable improvement from their previous, felt more ambitious, more refined, more emotional. But, for example an album in that same era like Brand New Eyes by Paramore has gone out of my favouritism in recent years. That one felt quite like a carbon copy of Riot, and I did notice that way back when it first came out too, which I didn't like back then either. Then, I actually liked Paramore's self-titled more, because they were going for something completely different on it, which I appreciated.

Diminishing returns from Bleed the Future, but still pretty fun.

This feels like it has stronger legs than Bleed the Future to me. Still early, though. We sat with BTF for a long time.
