I think the album will settle at like 3.9 when the dust settles

there are some absolute hits that will become staples though, that's for sure

Idk this is the most Jacob’s lyrics have resonated with me in a while, really topical while keeping it intensely personal. He really might be my favorite vocalist no joke

hmmm I agree with xfing. For me it is too bluntly in your face compared to their classic albums. still great, but not that amazing as the classics in their Discography. I actually haven't paid attention to the lyrics, maybe that would elevate my rating...

after giving this roughly 7 or so listens...

"make me forget you" is honestly borderline s-tier converge. most of the rest is comfortably b-tier. not very big on "amon amok" or "gilded cage".

actually tbh the t/t is a pretty easy 2nd favorite

It grew on me a lil. To be fair it was mostly the s-tier / b-tier breakdown, where everything that isn't Make Me Forget You pales in comparison somewhat

yea I can agree with that, only I really dig Gilded Cage too, I like those noisy Jesus Lizard vibes

Album just gets better for me. First listen I was underwhelmed and now it’s prob top 3 converge for me. May be a bit more “basic” but everything seems so intentional.

I don't like the "simpler = worse/basic" narrative around this album. Those same peeps would call this lazy if it sounded closer to Dusk

This being not so mathy is probably what's enhancing its impact for me, the compositions are simpler (I guess) but performance wise there is a lot of depth, together it's just really effective.

Also case in point, Gilded Cage might also be my favorite here lol. When the main riff/verse comes back the 3rd time after the instrumental break, holy hell it hits so hard. And it's probably the simplest riff on the whole album

Ya Kurt really proves that he doesn’t need to play his ass off on every record to make a killer song. Bad Faith is simple as hell for them but still kicks ass
