I get what you mean though, that chino/Stef dynamic has always been the core of Deftones’ sound, the heavy/soft, brutal/melody, screaming/crooning etc

They'd continue to headline festivals and basically be a touring/legacy band that can help younger artists get over (annual DDLD), which is essentially what they're doing now

Steph did say in the itunes interview he feels more motivated to record music than ever. As far as touring, yeah he cant do that anymore. So I will stick they are going to manage to record at least two more albums. Even one more would suffice being fair.

Carpenter's stuff can always been played by a touring guitarist anyway. If he wants to skip the oversea tours so he can get stoned and convince himself Artemis II is not passing by a three-dimensional object, then he can at least make sure a good ass riff comes out of his existential crises

I really wish Steph wasn’t so goddamn stupid. I know he kinda lost it after the Paris attacks, which is understandable, but man is not coping with it well

He’s always been a fucking idiot. On the gore tour there was like five of us hanging out by the bus and he stepped out with a flat earth shirt on and this guy asked him about it and he went on and on for like 5 minutes about it.
Dude knows how to play but they truly don’t make em any dumber than him

With seven months to digest this, I definitely feel like it's my favorite album they've done.
It has the density and atmosphere of albums like KNY and SNW, the aggression and energy of ATF and S/T, and every track on here is very solid. The first half especially, is among their best material. No major risks taken, but it's all the better for it considering how unfocused and inconsistent the last couple of records were. It'd definitely be a fitting farewell if they ended here.

randomly rewatched the dillinger escape plan golden gods performance on youtube again and towards the end chino comes on stage and they break into a depeche mode cover and chino does the same the super low delivery there as he does on departing the body

Nice!
I saw DEP and Deftones at the Hollywood Palladium years back, I think it was the Koi tour. What a fucking show. Deftones got some balls having such a scene stealing band like Dillinger open for them, but they pulled that shit off!

This album flies by on repeated listens. I can't think of another album where I have to go start to finish or not at all.
