Didn't even knew that these guys are still around, One - X was one of the first rock records I had heard in my life - at the time I thought their sound was pretty edgy hahaha

thanks for the kind feedback guys!

this is solid stuff, but they definitely dropped the ball when you look at the bigger picture. also, the production is unsurprisingly the main issue here.

I despise Matt's vocals, he's whining and emo in the worst obnoxious way. I'll give the record one spin to see if Adam can turn out anything memorable but not holding out much hope at all. I liked 3DG first 3 records though. I can't deny that they helped move me into a heavier sound into adulthood.

Also, this review reads like a 2.5, not a 3.5.

“Let’s be honest, this is manufactured to get nostalgic radio play on the hard rock stations and has the lyrical depth of a spoon.”

I mean that’s fine. If it has a few decent riffs and Adam doing his thing then it’s probably a hard 3

3.2 is the fairest possible score for this if you'd consider their first 4 to be floating around the 3.5 mark

it's a drop but not a stark one

Agreed with most of this. The singles are fine, but the back half is a LOT better. In Cold Blood is my immediate favorite here, that one slaps. Deathwish is another early highlight. Still kinda found myself wishing at times that Walst wasn't present, so it still falls short of their prime material

So this is actually better than their last three records?

Now tentatively starting my first full listen... "hey hey, here we fucking go."

Yeah, the album really does start with some of the most polarising tracks possible. 'Dominate' is so forced it's obvious how desperately it wishes it was heavy, and 'Apologies' is just generic as hell.

'Mayday' and 'Kill Me Fast' are marginally better, but man what a fractured start to the album.

in waves-the power is where it's at. something i didn't touch on in the review was the lyrics, but they're pretty bad on this tbh. fortunately, the melodies make this blunder easy to overlook

'Deathwish' is such a massive 'Time of Dying' throwback it's uncanny.

Album overall is fine. It's nice to hear Adam back and there's some fun to be had, but the same production issues and underwhelming lyrics of the last three TDG albums are still rife here.

Better than their last two albums but thats hardly saying anything. Lyrics are garbage, and anytime Adam sings a good part, the other dude comes in and ruins it with his garbage vocals. Would've been better if they fired his ass, and had Adam on all vocals.

Finally gave it a full listen. The first 4 singles are easily the worst of the album. In waves, Alienation, Never Ordinary and Another Relapse are actually pretty solid, especially vocally. Never thought I'd say it but it is their best work since Life Starts Now.
