I don't understand the Reflektor hate - excellent record.

These guys had an incredible 4 record run. Shame about everything that came after.

Reflektor wasn't bad, it was just noticeably worse than what had come before - the beginning of the decline. And Everything Now, despite having some of the worst songs they've ever released, had a few highlights that would comfortably hold their own in an Arcade Fire "best of".

We was better.

This is not.

Nah. Reflektor is fabulous. It and Funeral are 5’d for me. I love it as much as Funeral tbh. Porno, title track, Afterlife, Flashbulb Eyes, Awful Sound, Supersymmetry… all next level. Not a bad moment despite the fact it’s a double album. But yeah the stretch from Funeral to Reflektor is better than most artists’ careers. That’s why after Reflektor they should’ve hung it up

Yeah, Reflektor is a very uneven record with some interesting production choices (Normal Person live versus studio is a travesty) but on the whole it felt overstuffed with ideas instead of lacking them and would’ve been a nice place for the band to stop.



The album finishes with an incredible one-two punch of Afterlife and Supersymmetry that is really quite nice

Agree about Afterlife - absolute class. But it has way too many 6.5/10 songs which weigh it down.

Uneven is a good way to put it. It's a bit long in the tooth.

Long in the tooth means old so not entirely sure with what you mean there. But to me it works and doesn’t have any low points if I listed my favorites I’d list just about everything on it lol. Worst song on jt is Here Comes the Night Time 2 probably and that song is still fucking bomb

yeah, especially if you’re listening to the lyrics. It’s insane that this doesn’t sound like a conspiracy but a potentially realistic scenario

agreed that Reflektor is a “highlights album” but those moments of inspiration were present and are an absolute far-cry from whatever this is. I guess you could argue their post-Reflektor material is more ‘consistent’ lol

Reflektor is bloated, but I have a massive crush on the t/t, hence I still jam it from time to time. The new album is weak, but I could at least listen to it in one-go, so I won’t say it’s complete trash.

Their first 3 albums are all incredible for very different reasons. Reflektor had some bangin’ tracks but was their first miss, and after that they went off a cliff

I actually quite like Reflektor, might be my second favorite of theirs. Everything Now was when they really fell off for me, but even that had some winners like "Put Your Money on Me". I really didn't get much out of this album or their last one.

Damn, you know it's bad when everyone's just talking about reflektor instead of the brand new album that just released. What a wash.



Agreed with Sowing's ranking, except maybe a firmer border with NB at number 2. I will maintain that despite being very embarrassing, Everything Now at least had a concept and a few okay songs.



And reflektor is great.
