to be fair this is probably marginally superior to Everything Now and that album didn't have the same optics-related issue

in fact this may be the unexpected premier hate-jam of today after ST's failure to satisfy, now lets see what Behemoth is cooking... (or not, idk?)

band has been on the decline since 2004 tbh

Even without any bad personal behavior we'd still be having the uncomfortable convo about how damaging three terrible albums in a row would be to their legacy. Maybe it'd be a Nas thing where the debut is just so legendary that all the crap afterwards doesn't matter, but most bands with peaks as high as Arcade Fire don't ever get this bad for this long.

I'm on the third song and so far this is on Everything Now pace - so much worse than Reflektor.

Circle of Trust is next and that will turn things around, I'm sure of it

Boy girl and in between

Cut from a laser beam

We seek a new vibration

(Alien nation)

Lonely but never alone

Tethered to a fake friend phone

Record this conversation

(It's a simulation)

Black Friday cyber attack

Freeway fracking sky is cracked

Sing with the congregation

(Alien nation)

Fly down the inner state

Of self care self hate

One-sided conversation

(Useless information)

There are surprisingly zero Tik Tok namedrops

Only got a few songs in this morning. It seemed bad. I'm holding out hope that it'll be one of those albums I can rearrange and chop fat until it's a 3 but even that might be too optimistic.

After first listen, did find a few potential silver linings (mostly in the second half of the tracklist), but overall this is quite limp

Comatorium.

I went into this thinking “it can’t really be that bad.”

My god, it’s worse.

This was really boring, both sonically and lyrically, and I have zero desire to really listen again or explore it further.

Exactly. I don't necessarily think it's, like, actively bad (some parts are), but for the most part I just couldn't wait for it to be over. Even Win sounds bored out of his mind during most of these performances -- Circle of Trust is an especially dreadful example.

I don’t think this is as offensively bad as the current average suggests, but god it’s so boring and disappointing. Alien Nation is the only track here that I would say is outright bad. Everything else is listenable, but this won’t be getting as much play time from me as I hoped

I do not think this is as bad as Everything Now for whatever that’s worth. But it’s the next worst thing.
