Spiritbox is just overproduced, pretentious and chasing all the mainstream trends trying to get mass appeal.

Yea the heavy parts here are what falls flat for me. I think the more melodic and mainstream leaning stuff is where they succeed. Crystal Roses reeks of way too much EDM cheese however

Also I like how Hatsune Miku is such a worldwide sensation yet there's a literal amount of two fans on sput lol.

It's early, but I'm enjoying this more than Eternal Blue so far. Every song is at least somewhat enjoyable imo. Tsunami Sea and A Haven With Two Faces are top tier. Deep End is also great.

Welcome to metalcore. But seriously joking aside this isn’t as tight as their debut but the melody sections are so fucking good.

The heavy parts are fine but a little too heavy if you know what I mean. Leaves no room for clarity. Courtney also says people are getting sick of the “polish” in metalcore, so okay, stop doing that then lol

Nah they sound clearer here, it’s the production added that makes it sound busy.

Also this is nearly as heavy as their early stuff. Too heavy? Damned if you do

Yeah I was honestly baffled at that Courtney production thing. Spiritbox are one of the first bands I think of when I think of overproduction in metalcore.

Idk, I kind of like the production on this record. Overall, it fits with their metal/pop fusion sound. I do think that the heavy bits are a bit too "loud" at times, but I feel like a more raw sound would be detrimental to songs like Crystal Roses, which obviously are attempting to emulate a modern style pop/electronic sound.

As one of those two Vocaloid fans on the site, yeah, I got some Vocaloid/J-Pop vibes from Crystal Roses

Just caught up with the thread and I enjoyed all of your takes. I almost feel schizophrenic now from the diverse yet valid feelings expressed. Thank you for appreciating the track-by-track. I've always liked it, I'm glad I'm not as alone as I thought I was.

After more listens, the only real change that happened is I think Soft Spine is a 10 now... I don't care. That song gets me moving. I'd make it my alarm if I wasn't so lazy
