Agreed relinquished. It’s hard defend some shit like Devourment to your girlfriend who isn’t already into that style of music. I know there are plenty of metal chicks who love that shit all over the world, but for the average listener, lyrics like that tend to turn more people away, regardless of intentions of the artist who penned the words. Anytime I throw on tomb of the mutilated, I’m always in a great headspace and just love it for how it sounds. But a lot of people listen to heavy music (or just music in general) for cathartic/emotional reasons. It’s not like you’re gonna walk away from “entrails ripped from a virgins cunt” with this new outlook on life
