Crystal roses is actually pretty tight tbh, if not weirdly placed in the track list. Move it after soft spine as a break mid point. Also youtube compression murdered it.



Soft spine is easily my least faviourite track here. I am happy to admit i did judge this band too harshly and i was wrong. Are they something special to me or am i a fan? No not really but it was better than i my intial impression where led to believe

It is catchy

Definitely don’t like most of the poppy/djenty metalcore bands around now like bad omens, newer architects, and sleep token, etc. I talk a lot of shit to my friends about music I don’t like but i definitely feel like a lot of the punching down on bands I see are of bands that women/teenage girls are into. Idk where in particular I was going with this point but just seems like low hanging fruit. Countless Metal albums discuss themes of beating, raping, and murdering women in first person point of view. Dudes will be quick to defend these themes and records but just as quickly jump down someone’s throat for bumping some shit like this on principle.

I fucking loathe bands that have those lyrical themes, i also just hate the hyper violent lyrics and music anyway. Another horrible thing id when prople thirst after female members of bands its just so so gross

I know there are perfectly well adjusted people of all genders who can consume that entertainment, myself included, without getting wrapped up in the gatekeeper aspect of it all. But it’s always been a thing so sorely disappointing to continually see and hear ad nauseam

yeah I share that sentiment, you can see it all over the metal websites, and here (even if some users don’t see themselves doing it). those same bands you can tell that they have some songs aren’t meant for the dudes and that’s okay. most of the women I know into metal and women-fronted bands are all praises and enjoy music when it gets sensual like how Sleep Token gets. Some guys can’t tap into that so they rail against what they don’t relate or vibe to.

Don’t get me wrong I love shit like slam and brutal death metal but it’s not unreasonable to think some of these bands and their fast rise to fame are a direct reaction to the inaccessibility of those bands/albums and themes

For sleeptoken i think they have potential for a straight up alt rocky vibe, i felt that their metal side from Eden was the weakest portion

They ride the middle but they get pigeonholed like every band and just cuz they got some chunky djenty riffs that doesn’t mean they need to be a heavy band. so many post-hardcore bands that have the same kind of bite but don’t receive that criticism. For some people they’re as heavy as whatever catharsis you get from your favorite bands.
