I don't know what I was thinking when I first heard this, the vocals are amazing and every chorus got stuck in my head. There's also a sense of restraint which makes the goofy parts stand out more. I feel like a prick for doubting Dev.

Devin Townsend is one of the most interesting figures in modern music. Such an introspective dude, and I always get sucked into every interview with him I run across. Sadly, I think I've always appreciated him more as a person than the music he creates, but I'd like to give it more of a chance. My goal is to go through some if not all of his solo work post-SYL and see if anything really resonates, but other than Empath, this is the only other one I've listened to start to finish. Ruby Quaker might be the best song ever written.
