Yeah there’s literally maybe 5 songs where William takes full lead, easily the most frustrating thing about new Alice. He should be singing a lot more

Hmm let me check the songs where William is more present:
"Last of my Kind" 100% William
"A Looking in View" 50/50 lead vox (William/Jerry)
"Acid Bubble" 50/50
"Private Hell" Mostly William
"Lab Monkey" 50/50
"Phantom Limb" Mostly William
"Hung on a Hook" 100% William
"Rainier Fog" Mostly William except the bridge
"So Far Under" 100% William
"Never Fade" 50/50
Tears (Rush cover) 100% William
Everything else is mostly Jerry with William as backing vocalist, so your assessment is about right.

Low end on this sounds like like Ohm's. No bueno

I think "Throw Me a Line" should have been placed after "Off the Rails", as track #3. Other than that, the songs are pretty solid and the production is decent enough. Very consistent album and artist overall.

Good album. Nothing groundbreaking but it is very solid.

Damn I didn’t even notice, yeah kinda agree, in no universe is this close to Degradation Trip let alone the Alice records that are sitting at 3.9

this is a lot less monotonous and thinstretched than degradation trip
more texture more crunch more layers more songwriting more effort

This is so bad ass.

"this is a lot less monotonous and thinstretched than degradation trip" - It's also not as consistent or engaging. The highs are mid next to Trip.

Both albums have different functions. Deg is far darker and more agressive overall, not to mention it takes time. Definitely need to be in the mood for it.
This one is also dark, specially when compared to Brighten. But it is a much easier listen overall with emphasis on songwriting rather than crushing heaviness.

yeah I’m just now seeing this but that’s a wild statement imo. I’m digging this record but Degradation Trip has more than a few songs that are just as good as any of the top Alice tracks. I’d say the closer and Off the Rails are the only ones here that come close.
My biggest hope for whatever he does next is that it’s a lot more collaborative. Let Greg off his leash, Gil Sharone is an absolute beast but I really feel like this might as well have just been Sean behind the kit. No disrespect to Sean. I love him.

Cracking album by Jerry

Probably gonna up this a .5 on re-listens, actually the best record Jerry has released so far (!)
This is the most "Alice" he has sounded in years - I love the whole package from the album art to the elevated energy compared to his last release. The only thing remaining for him is to release a fully acoustic record, either by himself or with Alice, with a similar vibe to Jar of Flies.
