The first song on this does actually remind me of one of Imagine Dragons big hits. 😬😬😬

Whats fucked is its 90 seconds but one of the better songs on the album. Should have been a 5 minute song and one of the longer songs could easily have been 90 seconds...or 60...

One of those artists that you really can only feel a full sense of completion with if you built an album out of all the material.

But i just jammed the old Devil Is Fine song earlier amd it felt so dated. So that might not work either.

Man this shit sucks. Stranger Fruit was a great album and they've just been dropping off hard since.

I don't see what everyone else does in Stranger Fruit that one is just as bad (if not a bit worse tbh) than this lol.

Emersion is the best track they’ve done and it was a one off instrumental so idk

Idk if I had to say, Stranger Fruit had the most listenable production, and some fairly memorable songs that incorporated the whole black n blues style in a way that felt much less like a niche than Devil is Fine, it had more variation. We Can't Be Found is violent, title track is dark and almost industrial, and so on. It's not perfect by any means, but it's the most consistent they've been

Stranger Fruit has perfected the formula and they never went back to the same heights ever since

I disagree with the review; this is a solid album.
I'm fine with these eclectic artists to take big swings and try new stuff.
You want more black metal? Listen to a BM band... solved!

I think it's solid but still mostly agree with the review and hard agree on that comment about Stranger Fruit and liking it more than Devil is Fine.
I'm very mixed on this one and the album is a very mixed bag, but I definitely prefer them doing something like this than S/T part 2 or going even farther into just like stompy clappy yelly bullshit territory.

@aquiroga If you think that my problem with this album is the lack of black metal, you should probably re-read my review. If you like this, more power to you, but don't misinterpret.

if someone were to ask me where to start with zeal & ardor, this would not be in consideration. it's not a bad album per say but feels more disjointed and simultaneously takes a safer approach, end result, it just doesn't grab my attention

Gimmick band

Really love picturing the people that get on here to roll up their sleeves crack their knuckles and come into these threads with "gimmick band" "imagine dragons metal lol" and contribute nothing else.
You're really out here killing it, thank god the niche music fan community as a whole has you out here putting in the hard work and regurgitating the most brainless takes, because someone has to. Wish I had been smart enough to realize this band was just a gimmick all along smh
