"tattoo on his throat": Yeah, now I'm wondering if he lost a bunch of opportunities when he GOT the tat, but now he's stuck with it, and the image is part of a mad, desperate attempt to regain a real or imagined "hot" status. His ego is probably a fortress, though, so who knows

Close To Human was and will always be a great album. A Violent Emotion only has a few songs I like. Got uninterested in his music after that.
He also released a very good album (2007) with his futurepop project Necessary Response, alas it's the only one since then.
