Reiterating this is an actually wonderful record and most likely AOTY but 4.4 feels like something that should be foundational to or transformative of an entire genre and there's a fair few albums that handily surpass this one in that sense

I can see what you mean but i have no doubt this will be looked back on in a few years as a masterpiece within the genre

I’ll be honest, this album has resparked my excitement for this genre in a way that I haven’t been excited in many many years

The last record, upon year of release, that I was obsessed with as much as I am this one was probably TPAB or Carrie & Lowell.

Maybe a 4.4 isn't entirely bound to genre, but it's meaning within the time of its release. Maybe COTM is a defining feature of ~2024, even if it's little known, underground.

I promise I have never and will never make a comment as hyperbolic as this again lol. Just something about this record. It grew on me. Thought it was at most a 4 first few listens... It's got that longevity albums that are growers are on me

Nah man, when I saw them play No Gospel live, it felt like I was at a show with hundreds of people instead of 30. These guys should be playing way bigger venues
