Where do you get off calling this assembly of paragraphs a review? Your "critique" is not critical and it is completely on the surface. It rests on the comforts of "I don't like this because..." You are not ballsy. This does not take guts. This is merely an opinion from someone who doesn't understand tension and meditative tedium (i.e. - dynamics).
I don't know where you get off criticizing a song (Oh Comely) for only having guitar and voice for 8+ minutes. You forgot to mention that it also includes horns at the end. I don't know if you've ever heard and/or respected a Bob Dylan song before, but listen to "It's All Right Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" and take some goddamn notes.
You criticize the album (on a whole) for being too simple and tend to only enjoy the faster paced songs. How shot is your attention span? I didn't know slow equaled not interesting.
If you were listening close enough, you would notice the wide range of white noise created by found instruments in the trash adding to the background giving it that much more depth on every single song.
Your mechanical approach is tired and uninspired. I don't understand how you can enjoy The Microphones and/or Slint. Maybe if there was a drum beat, fuzz bass and some dj scratches behind Jeff Mangum's voice on "Oh Comely" you would understand it.
Lastly, Jeff Mangum can't sing in the best way possible. It's called raw, untouched passion. I understand that criticism is all opinion but when you simply don't understand something, don't write about it.

"Although I enjoy many indie/folk bands such as Pavement, Slint, and The Microphones"
first of all, is that a serious statement? i can't even begin to express how utterly hilarious that is.
i appreciated that you stuck to your guns in your review, however your writing didn't really convince me that you know what you're talking about at all.
i would suggest trying to avoid generalization and repetition in your writing. not only will it alleviate the boredom, it will also help you make your point in a more convincing, original way.
