The point: this album does not sound good. In the history of compositions this won’t even make a blip on the radar. Deftones squished them self a long time ago with their resistance to creativity, and with this album nothing changes except my anger towards them has escalated to ungodly levels. Terrible.

it's mainly a reflection that they've been big enough for long enough to have multiple fanbases - far more diversity in age, background and (i would say especially here, though you obvs get this less on sput) gender than your average 90s metal relic act, and clashing preferences are hardly a surprise
ditto for nu-deftones being a distinctly different appeal from the original line-up's run. far more blockbuster mall kitsch on show from diamond eyes onwards

Deftones is weird for me. I don't think they've ever put out anything bad but there's definitely a lot of mid stuff in their catalog. At the same time they have some absolute classic bangers as well.
