These guys and God Is an Astronaut got a lot of people into post rock in the 00s IMO. Later, they kind of got lost amid better bands. GIAA had a good comeback with heavier stuff tho.

Some wild takes in here with "band was never good" mentality. The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place is a phenomenal record, and should be up there with one of the most classic/influential post-rock records of all time. I got pretty burnt out on post-rock over the years but this band is pretty legendary in my eyes.

Yeah, I get that the band has always had its detractors but Earth remains about as good as their sort of thing can get.

Earth is flaccid music for bunk indie flick directors and letting it keep any pedestal is an insult to post rock (RIP)'s memory
|
| |
trouble with post-rock is that i would like to honour its memory, but there is a severe limitation on its memorability
|
| |
band is the hindenburg of music
|
| |
this is the worst explosion in the sky that ever happened in september
|
| |
definitely their worst record of the day
|
| |
Earth Is Not is like a collection of jingles written for drug commercials that spend two minutes spelling out the side effects for you
|
| |
Post rock is a genre of yesteryear at this point
|
| |
soon we gonna need a post post rock
