Best trilogy ever [2]
I'd even go as far as saying its the best 6 album run.

Fascinating to see their transition from the debut up to MoR.
Nero, what's your analysis regarding the shifts in the band's sound throughout those first 6 albums?
|
| |

First 3 basically defined the metal genre and each one was heavier than the last, with MoR being the first doom/sludge/stoner etc record. The next 3 is where they started to experiment more and move away from the doom into a more progressive sound.

Been jamming this one recently, it's a lot better than I remember. Ozzy's vocals fit the music incredibly well. Love the blues influences.

I used to hate it for cutting out Geezer and Bill half-way through the song, but fuck it, I learned to just appreciate it for the guitar god that is Tony Iommi

Where it all started

Jamming Sabbath's first 3 in reverse order rules.
Started on MoR, and now I'm here.
Seriously, Mike's reviews shouldn't be the default ones for this band.
On another note, does anybody think that too many people tend to over-associate this album with the title track, to the point of overlooking the rest?

"NIB" rules face, probably the best on here.

"On another note, does anybody think that too many people tend to over-associate this album with the title track, to the point of overlooking the rest?"
Yeah they tend to do that because the t/t is the most influential song on this album and one of the most influential of their discog. But people do that with a lot of bands. Think of "Smoke on the Water", "Ace of Spades", "Layla"...
