I like the debut, but the songwriting and mixing is so much better on this imo. Even with very short tracks, things get pretty repetitive on the s/t, and the guitar tone is pretty amorphous without much variation. There’s more dynamic control on this release, better variety, and more interesting pieces altogether.

The debut is definitely their craziest and most off-the-wall, but I prefer how Toxicity mixes that wacky energy with the more structured and melodic songwriting of their later work. It really strikes that perfect balance for me, which is why it's my favorite

The main riff of X goes way harder than it needs to, and I love it. Especially when Serj lets out that growl after the second verse

I have a friend who has this on the bottom of the list for SOAD because it was their "most radio-ready" and that Steal This Album felt more emblematic of how crazy they are.
I cant really argue with that but he did get me to re-jam STA so it was nice.
