@rabidfish I love Messiah, one of Godflesh's most underrated releases.

Yeah this thread has seen some weird takes but that takes the cake by far.
That says something about a band with a diverse discography! As much as I don't care for this album I can honestly say its refreshing to have debates about best and worst. I tend to go back and listen to complete band discog's start to finish and sometimes find a gem in the mix that was never quite present.

"I love Messiah, one of Godflesh's most underrated releases."
Indeed! Messiah rules hard. One of my fav too.
This one grew on me a bit but I still don't get Army of Non, most cliché Godflesh song ever. I removed it from my rip lol

Idk, it's like a B class Godflesh song which sounds cliché af to me. There are none of those small Godflesh variations in its repetitive verses. It even sounds somehow like an interlude to me, but maybe that was the point.
Permission on the other hand rips the hardest to me. The Father and Army of Non are my least fav.

Naah the bounce on Army Of Non is a keeper groove for sure.

Make an EP out of Nero, LandLord, Army Of Non, Mythology Of Self, and Judge/Jury/Executioner and you get a 4.0.
Lazarus Leper is good, but it's too repetitive. Almost feels like a B-side from Post Self.
Permission starts off really fun with the drum and bass vibes but doesn't develop enough from there. The Father is just grating.
Overall I'm definitely happy that we got an album as opposed to nothing but it's a little disappointing knowing just how good Godflesh can be.

Still an impressive showing. Props to Godflesh and NIN for going strong with great industrial albums across five different decades.
