It’s a return to form in a way. Sounds more akin to Hymns and Selfless to me with the mix of sound from World and Post Self.

God, this is quite dull to be honest…
probably doesn’t help that I’m simultaneously listening to Pure, but that just has so much more crunch and atmosphere, this sounds limp (idk people keep comparing them for some reason)

Yeah, doesn’t really pop out like most of their work

couldn't disagree more. take care not to mix up the sonic with the aesthetic. there's overlap but they're actually two distinct things and it seems like you're only giving attention to the former

Don't get it either (even if it ain't a 5 in the long run). You've got the aggro bounces and the apocalyptic dirges and they don't "pop out"?
Justin should never have said this relates to Pure in any way (because from what I can track down it was he himself that made the first link). It seems to have scrambled everyone's brains or something.

I’m not even an existing fan of this band and had zero expectations, this just sounds so lifeless in comparison to Pure (and Streetcleaner).
I didn’t enjoy Post Self either to be fair and maybe there’s an element of that flavour here too

Yea it’s a vibe to fall into.
As a longtime fan I hear elements from older records so when ppl say they don’t hear well they’re wrong as fuck

They're putting out In Dub vol 2 soon with some reworks off this one. I tell you, if You Are... gets a dub rework, it might be balldroppingly great.
