I didn't notice honestly. Maybe I'm just so used to sanitized mainstream garbage that it didn't faze me. ;-)

it's a good sign that you enjoyed the first song at least because it only gets better from there

Can't believe I'm about to say this, but yeah this is a really good Foo Fighters album

I haven't really payed much attention to this band after Wasting Light, to be honest. But since it was released today with the new Avenged Sevenfold I figured I might as well pick this up as well.

When he’s capable of writing such satisfying downtempo tracks like Show Me How, which is like a long lost shoegaze track, it makes me question how he’s released so much mediocrity on other albums.
|
| |
yea x-static for example fuckin rules. he's ALWAYS at his best not doing the standard foo fighters radio rock song thing
show me how fuckin rules this is such a surprise

@Aluk: sometimes I think artists just hit a creative lull and release albums not out of inspiration but to hit some sort of quota for the labels, for music to tour on. just look at metallica. 72 seasons is uninspired instrumentally it feels like most of the band is checked out. it's just James driving them to try and continue really.

True. After they released One By One, DG openly admitted that they just didn’t like most of it and subsequently cut nearly all of those tracks from their setlists. That would really bother me.

I'm really impressed by how fresh this album sounds for the band.

@veninblazer- the FF are on their own record label (Roswell Records) and have been since 1995. RCA is used for distribution purposes. there is no quota. Dave owns their entire catalogue. he has final say. this is a huge misconception about this band. nobody tells them what to do.

Best thing they've done since Wasting Light, those two closing tracks are superb.

That average is so dramaaaatic

Because obviously it is, but it's nearly shocking at points how ballsy this album is for Foo. Love it - RIP TH

Best foo's record since Wasting Light imho. Hard-hitting, gut-wrenching tunes. And Dave on drums! Well, I hope they keep up with this quality album after a few decent records in the past...

Solid up until the last two tracks which are kinda head and shoulders above everything else.
Agreed with the general consensus this is their best since Wasting Light (not the highest bar, but still!)

Nice average rock album which is a huge improvement - beyond that I’m not hearing it
Prob their fifth best:
1. Colour & shape (3/5)
2. S/t (3/5)
3. There is nothing (2.5/5)
4. Wasting Light (2.5/5)
5. This (2.5/5)
The rest is mostly trash
