There's music I think of like candy and music I think of like steak and potatoes and this is very much on the candy side.

Just thinking about bands like Oathbreaker makes me have to be like "how can this possibly in any universe be a 4"

But for like, expectations vs reality, and delivering on a specific sound/vibe I'm looking for that I can't really get anywhere else, this still hits.

I know what you mean shapeof. Architects and Amity are my popcorn core or junk food bands. Are they amazing:No but are they easy comfort music thats just like junk food? Yeah

Architects do have some amazing stuff tbf, tracks like Memento Mori off All Our Gods are genuinely spine-chilling for me. It makes me sad they'll never perform the full version live but I 100% understand. Amity though, yeah for sure.

Yeah I adore All Our Gods and previous, Holy Hell was very much a candy but enjoyable record, but anything they've produced after that I'd flush as fast as any 0.5-1.5 in this thread flushed this album and I'd be 10x as mean about it. Generic heavy rock-leaning-metal is just easily one of my least favorite genres I can't stand it for the life of me and it's wild how a lot of the more generic or poppier core bands wind up going that route.



I *almost* feel bad for Sam and the boys bc of that guy that ran up on stage and was like "how can you have gotten so shitty" and like it was a dick move that no one should ever do but damn he wasn't wrong. RIP Tom

It’s probably less tbh but I haven’t been on here or the internet much lately.

The whole culture surrounding the album and the backlash that’s typical of popular stuff is laughable and embarrassing.

It’s easy to pick on tiktok, easy to pick on the musicians, easy to pick the younger audience missing the point, etc.

If y’all don’t like it, it’s fine. But I know that some of y’all looked too deeply into everything else besides the album itself.

This album has a lot of shit going on that people are going to find bothersome/not be into if it isn't their thing, but I don't think there's much to warrant the backlash other than it's hot shit right now. I'm honestly glad I had a couple previous albums to grow to enjoy these guys enough to not give a fuck about the discourse when this album dropped.



Unfortunately it's pretty much impossible to listen to any record these days in a vacuum and just enjoy it for what it is, but I often wonder what it would be like.

Im happy i gave it a crack to form my own opinion on it (despite my lowerd rating) and not just shrug it off. I can see why some may enjoy it, its definatly not for me. Ive given my thoughts on it, the albums sound and such. I just wish the discourse stuck to actually discussing the album and didnt turn into such a shit show.
