I've seen these lads a couple of times, one of the best I've seen both times tbh.
Persefone I'm not overly familiar with.

I wish these guys would take note of Rivers of Nihil's use of saxophone and apply a similar methodology to their use of violin. Less is more.
I really want to like this, but my immersion in the music keeps getting broken by the whine of that awful "atmospheric" use of violin all over the album. I like the inclusion of violin and think it actually works usually. Unfortunately, there is too much of it diverting my attention from the rest of the music. There's no need for all the discordant clashing of instruments I'm picking up all over the album. Maybe it comes through differently in a live performance, but I won't hold my breath until I see them in October.

The violin interweaved with everything else and almost "clashing" is actually one of the things I love about their albums.

Probably not a great idea health-wise.

Yeah nah the violin stays and suggesting that being more like Rivers of Midhil would be an improvement is goofy.

Honestly the best part of The Work was some of the harsh delivery and homeboy's gone now And I found out when I was at the contortionist show and they were about to play the whole album.
Spoiler alert as mid as it already is it genuinely is bad with the bassist trying to front man the whole album when he wasn't prepared.
And now they're recording material w/ him as the actual frontman so I guess we'll see. I'm hoping they give Andy a lot of cleans.
Luckily it was just the opening for a stellar Contortionist set.
