Nah I totally get it I never really got into Liturgy until H.A.Q.Q. Bits of Ark where cool but nothing stuck until then. Her voice does fking grate on during a whole record though ngl

Her vox blow yeah but they're not like offensively bad. The music just sounds like a jumbled mess to me 99% of the time lol.

They played a festival I was at this weekend they were awesome as always but wanted to catch cloud rat in an 80 cap room and was worried I'd get locked out so left for the last track turns out it was Antigone II. Gutted.
Was about 4 people when I got the other venue haha Did end up with people not getting in though so maybe would have missed out

You can say what you want about HHH or Liturgy as a band but I honestly think the concept of the “burst beat” as a cliche inversion of the blast beat is a pretty brilliant one. Introducing (purposeful) rhythmic modulation to what had become a pretty static set of tropes is something I’m still not sure they get enough credit for a decade on, regardless of how trve they are
|
| |
they implemented powerviolence-style tempo shift blasts into a second-wave bm framework, so it was a pretty innovated fs.
