yeah i love pop, esp the back half has some wonderful moments
it is also somewhat embarrassingly the album that opened my mind to the idea of electronic music not being bad but i was like 10 years old so shh

lmao i feel that. pop was probably my first exposure to any electronic textures too, a byproduct of this being like the 2nd band i ever got into lol
pretty glad that a lot of their stuff has held up pretty well for me. keeps the 12 year old inside of me alive

hell yeah real Pop appreciation hours let’s go
faves on there are Discotheque, Mofo, Gone, and Please personally. Velvet Dress is a neat deep cut but turned out quite a bit better as a shortened live interlude imo

my tops are probably do you feel loved, if god will send his angels, gone and the last two. also think miami is pretty underrated ppl dunk on that song a lot and i get it but ive always dug it lol. the way the reversed drum pattern syncs up with the half time drum pattern towards the end is so dope
MIAMIIIIIIIIIIII

Wish the studio recording of Miami had a bit more bite. The loop is a vibe though, and the lyrics on it are pretty trashy but it’s my trash, ya know?

yeah more grit would own like i bet that song woulda be huge live during that era. the first time i heard it heard the guitars slice through it i thought it was the coolest shit ever lmao but it definitely doesnt have quite the level of bite i thought it did 10+ years ago as a youngun

please and angels are probs my top picks, although i looove playboy and last night on earth (lukewarm take?)

I have no idea what this project / record is trying to be. I had high hopes for it for some reason, actually.
"The question became unavoidable; who is new U2 material even for?"
Hard agree. Biggest disappointment on here is definitely 'Beautiful Day' - the Ukraine song was among the best

beautiful day version sucks but its pretty whatever in its og form anyway. some really great songs turned into atrocious versions for sure. i think desire is a great song but the reimagining here is like, historically bad lmfao. one of the worst things ive ever heard honestly. only feel that way about like 25% of the runtime tho fortunately lol
