DEATH TO JESUS

Great album and I think the production is fine, but the part in Stench of High Heaven where it's basically just double bass is pretty hilarious. The most brutal kickball bouncing ever.

because of the production, likely. if it wasnt for that it would probably be up there with the other first 5.

the production keeps any of it from making much of an impact

i didnt like the production for a long time but it grew on me. the only thing that still sounds like shit to me is the kick drums. i think i said near the exact same thing a few pages or so ago.

A lot of really amazing dm albums have been completely botched by a horrible drum sound. Wholly thing sounds thinner than a sheet of nori though.

for sure. id say the majority of death metal doesnt have an ideal kick drum sound. fucking hate the typewriter shit.

Yeah man. Its gotten better with modern production but those fledgling years of digitized production and mastering techniques (ie: late 90's to mid 2000's) had some real wacky production ideals.)

ugh yeah, a lot of my favorite old death metal records are plagued with that shit.

Even CTAWB has a pretty mediocre production job imo. Sounds like it was recorded in a wind tunnel lets be real. I still love it though, like a lot.

they probably didnt do it on purpose, but it sounds chaotic and hellish. i like it for that. Ross' vocals are kind of fucky though. they sound different in some songs.

Keep in mind they only spent the better part of a year making "one of the greatest dm albums ever." Actually that statement applies to a few incredible albums

Love this album. I get why some people don't like the production, but I think the quality of the music makes it easy to look past it.
Never noticed any issues with CTAWB's production though. I think that one sounds perfect, honestly.
