I can see why someone might think this feels recycled because technically it's not anything new for the band. But they really captured their best traits here. I hear a little Hurry Up, a little S=Y, and even some Dead Cities. On top of that, the whole thing feels very uplifting to me in a way that doesn't feel forced or cheesy. It's way too early to say this, but I could honestly see this becoming my favorite M83 some day. It's more likely that the new album shine wears off in a few months and this gets slotted somewhere below Saturdays=Youth (my personal favorite), but the mere fact that it's in that same conversation after years of underwhelming material is incredibly refreshing.

Searched for this in Spotify and what appeared was chapter 1. Needed to read the comments (didn't read the whole review) to know there was more to it

My current assessment is exactly in the middle of Johnny and Sowing; listening again to see if I swing one way or the other.
This is one of those albums that needs a lot of time to either mature or decompose.
EDIT: It worked a lot better for me when I stopped thinking and just succumbed. Not sure what that says about me or the album...

Did he finally make something else that sounds like Dead Cities or is this another ignore?

M83 continuing its trend of terrible album covers it seems.
