I always try with this band. They're perfectly competent and it feels inspired enough but I can't ever bring myself to care. Not the biggest fan of the vocals and idk it feels so generically modern overall.

“ idk it feels so generically modern overall”
This is my problem with a lot of modern core, whether in the vocals or instrumentals. Like shit is sometimes written for emotional response like it’s a John Mayer radio track or something. Can still work, but when it feels artificial, whether it actually is or not, it gets hella tiresome

Yeah for an album that's supposed to make me feel things, I just don't for some reason.
I will say though, some of the riffs are pretty mean.

Tbh the EP's production isn't as huge as this, but the second half of it is perfection.

honestly I feel like this is gonna be one of these albums that I'm just gonna forget next week
there are some really good moments on here but idk there isn't much that isn't sticking with me.

I tend to enjoy this band pretty well, but this felt a bit monotonous. I felt like there were only a few memorable bits and the rest didn't grab me at all. Should be nice running music though.

Tbh the only thing that'd make this better if more of it took an approach similar to the last Devil Sold His Soul album.

There are moments of greatness here (like the intro riff on void surfacing), but I can't get into the record as a whole. The breakdowns feel especially uninspired and many of the riffs blend together. The choruses aren't really sticking with me either, which is odd because this band is clearly going for some huge, anthemic choruses. Can't wait until these guys put out a record I enjoy as much as their last EP.

This is up there with ERRAs self titled release for me.

"Meshuggah is djent without the best part of djent"
"This is probably a bit off but this almost reminds me a little of Counterparts"
what's going on in here guys

Since y'all are confused, Meshuggah have the mechanical low-tuned riffs but don't have the melodic, emotive atmosphere.

I've honestly lost count of how many times I've listened to The Sun Sleeps EP, it was a regular in my playlist for almost all of last year.
Even if this album is a minor step backwards it's still fantastic and invent animate are still my favourite ambientcore band alongside silent planet.
