"im really wondering why there is so much hate on these guys when they seem like a bunch of great people having fun and making the music they want to??"
think they're in the zone right now that like a7x / slipknot / trivium were in like 10 years ago (though obviously not nearly as mainstream). very popular modern metal band that has a sort of divisive sound/vocals that's seen as the new standard by the younger generation but not really respected by the older generation, and isn't really righted until the younger generation grows old and an even younger generation grows up having been introduced to metal through them

yeah like you know totally understand people have different tastes and this and that but i am genuinely baffled that new invent animate record has an avg .4 higher than this
guess people don't really like the more prog leanings periphery has by comparison but that's like exactly what makes this sound palatable to me

Album Rating: 3.5
tbf invent are a progcore band and periphery are not really a metalcore band at all so they arent entirely playing to the same crowd (as you kind of acknowledge yourself lol)

Invent fails in the same way The Contortionist hasn't been doing so well, they subvert expectations while bands like Periphery or even VoM play it safe and stick to what made them successful

tbf, everyone has thier own opinion
but it is a bit wild that this album is not even trending while the lesser album from IA is...
something is up...

counterpoint: heavener whoops this albums ass
also def dont back the idea that playing it safe >> subverting expectations, and i didnt even think invent was that far a leap forward from what they were doing before lol

Heavener just hits on that visceral level I was hoping this album would do for me.
Anyone else anxiously waiting for news on new TesseracT?

Album Rating: 3.5
im pretty sure you cant be on trending if the avg is below a 3.6 which is dumb lol

Album Rating: 4.5
idk it seems like some sput shit... there is way more discourse on this album than the new IA album
yet they are no where to be found... i just don't find that equal
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
there is also a lot more negative discourse around this album because whether you prefer them or not periphery are undoubtably a much MUCH more polarizing band lmao
