"bloody hell, you've only just named the 3 worst tracks there" sorry, I prefer melodically focused emo Periphery over any other form lol if the production was better I'd become a King Mothership stan

"That fucking call back to "The Way The News Goes" on "Thanks Nobou" is perfect. Like... it really feels like you're going on a journey with these guys on this album. I'm kind of wondering if there are more references to past songs sprinkled throughout this one."

There are definitely a lot of easter eggs/callbacks on the album. can't think of them all off the top of my head, but I'm confident there are at least 4-5 that are more than just "they accidentally wrote a similar riff"

I honestly wasn't sure how much I would be coming back after the first couple listens, but I find myself thinking about it pretty regularly. Some tracks more than others, but to be expected. So much of this stuff is total ear candy that I crave. You can always count on purriphery to have delicious production and instrumentals

i mean literally every second of dracul gras sounds directly similar to parts of various songs they wrote in the past... its just kind of a question of whether or not they meant to actually do that. not really as clear cut as wildfire and zagreus where entire sections of juggernaut songs are lifted note for note

i think the fact that there really are easter eggs on this album gives the illusion that there are more easter eggs than there actually are. like say, if follow your ghost was on this album, people would be 100% saying that dissonant breakdown riff is a callback to the bad thing, when in reality it is just a really similar riff idea. but because there's no actual easter eggs on p4 nobody says that.

do you have a specific example on dracul gras? I mean it sounds like a periphery song yeah but nothing really jumped out at me as "too similar"

many people in this thread have pointed to the verse starting at 0:14 sounding very similar rhythmically to rainbow gravity (or even claim it is rainbow gravity but just all 0s)

part starting at 3:34 is very similar to the middle part of stranger things

the rhythm guitar under the solo at 4:45 almost sounds ripped from stranger things but is slightly different

uhhhh listening to it back i think the riff at 9:27 may actually be rainbow gravity all 0s lmao

also def seen people say at 9:42 chug pattern is supposed to be a satellites easter egg

edit: ooo also saw someone claim the electronic outro is the black minute but in a major key, but i know fuck all about music theory and could not confirm that myself lol

Oh yeah I totally thought the riff at 0:14 was rainbow gravity, never actually played both back to back to check tho

i'm pretty much thinking if it sounds like something from juggernaut chances are they meant it... if it sounds like something from a different album its prob just a really similar riff they wrote

I think the only songs I don't care as much about are Silhouette and Thanks Nobuo, which pains me as an old-school Final Fantasy fan.
