isa is not even in their top 5 records.

Id just like to point out that when basically no one can agree on a bands best album and there are this many different choices, it points again to a really solid and consistent discography.

I actually reckon my fav is Vikingligr Veldi tbh, makes me feel like I'm a skeleton in the belly of a buried longboat

Anyway, my Top 5 is: Axioma Ethica Odini > Isa > Ruun > Heimdal > and then a tie between Utgard, E, and RIITIIR.

@Flug: I'll take that win. It's an agreement.
@Jas: I didn't know it was underrated, but those three albums are all really good.
Edit: In Times and Vertebrae are the two modern Enslaved albums I don't really appreciate.

those are both in my top 5, vertebrae specifically was my favorite album they released since madraum.

Since I've almost concluded my year long dive into Enslaved's music now I'm probably gonna make a ranked list after jamming the new one to a sufficient degree. Utgard aswell since I feel I haven't really grasped that album yet.
I feel like my question from page 3 kind of went under after the pb so I'm gonna pose it here again.
"is it just me or is this album incredibly dissonant and experimental compared to all their other modern records, maybe their most dissonant sounding album ever."
I have not jammed the full album yet, mainly basing this on the singles they released prior.

This is so good, one of my favourite Enslaved albums.
Says something with the stacked discog they've got.

I didn't pick up on that dissonant vibe, Flug, but the album has so many subtle layers that I could have missed it. Do you have any specific parts in mind?

Congelia is quite a dissonant track, overall I just think this one is multi-layered as heck.

Oh shiiiiiiiiiit

more dissonant than their last couple. And yeah, very thickly layered. This is my favorite of theirs from last decade. I did a discog run earlier this year after having previously only knowing a handful of albums and man was it amazing. Definitely agree they don’t have a single bad album. Even their lowest rated here, “Blodhemn”, slapsss
