"butt rock/nu metal". Excellent.
and "You're not going to find a place where people take their music so seriously that will be nice to this album".
Yeah, I just don't get out much anymore. And Willie pinned me: I'm only a casual Disturbed listener. I don't listen to radio stations that overplay stuff, so I forget what commercialization does to music. I should know better, though, since the radio more or less ruined -- or at least trivialized -- Master of Puppets for me decades ago. I'll never hear that song like I did when I first heard it, around the time it came out, back when it was definitely NOT commercial. Still, though, this Disturbed album doesn't sound of lower quality than the later tracks of Ten Thousand Fists (I only listen to the first seven or so songs on that one). And that album was bad ass when it came out, wasn't it? Or has it always been in a Death-Punch/Commercial category? I wasn't in the scene when it came out, so wouldn't know.
Does anyone know if there are any Sputnik reviews that would save anyone the time of having to school me on this?

I'd say their a bit above Death Punch but their more mid since they get a lot of shit. Like a bit more mainstream the causal rock 105 station that usually plays them along with Godsmack. Like they have fans but for most it's just your typical radio hard rock band they plays their hit songs on the stations pretty much.
Also Deftones isn't really Nu metal anymore that's why their so high of the chart of Nu metal bands. They pretty much move on from that style and became more Alternative metal and shoegaze with White Pony. But when they did do nu metal they did it every well.

@Willie: "I never saw Disturbed in the Death Punch category...stuff like Five Finger Death Punch was sub par even in its prime." Whew! Thanks for that. I actually like exactly two songs by Death Punch, but I would never have rated them as high as Disturbed. Being as isolated as I am, I was worried my music-gyroscope was getting off kilter.
@Tomstein: "Like a bit more mainstream the causal rock 105 station that usually plays them along with Godsmack." I hate what radio does to music. I was kind of interested in Voodo when it came out, but it got immediately overplayed; I doubt that I'll ever voluntarily listen to it again. I guess I should be grateful the radio only overplays a few songs and leaves the rest alone for us to savor.

The band comes out with a album thats over a 2 "more like a 2.5" and folks act like its solid. But will forget about it in 3 days. Not surprised.... it's not dumpster juice ill give it that but doesn't mean it's good either lol

@kildare I feel that way with Speak, it was fun to listen to then it got overplayed. I don't mine Voodoo, at first it was middle of the road for me now I like it a little more. My fav was Awake which I didn't hear that much at the time because it was over shadowed by I Stand Alone Voodoo Whatever Stay Away and a lot of the tracks from IV. I still don't mind them but my love for them started declining after 1000hp.

This is not as good or as consistently fun as any of the first four albums, but it's definitely not bad. Gotta give it to Draiman...dude knows how to bring a hook.

I’m pretty happy with how this turned out.

I never really loved this band but for some reason always liked some stuff from the Believe album, songs like ''Prayer'' are pretty good imo, really good chorus on that song. Probably the best song this band ever made.

"this band sucks big fuckin turds"
Worst band that ever came out of the nu metal movement. I'd rather listen to limp bizkit

the drums are so loud they actually push the guitars out of the mix and hurt my head at the same time, x2 combo gj
