Mars Volta is talented the same way the dudes in btbam are talented. They are a min max technical proficiency build at the expense of practically every other quality that makes up musical talent

Kinda shocked that this didn’t have an average of 2 or below but still wouldn’t be shocked if the average was 2.7 by Christmas. Mediocre prog and Cedric simply can’t sing his highs anymore.

also bedlam is one of their few albums actually worth hearing - the other two being frances and deloused, although both have their fair share of mediocrity and at times annoying songs
