great review, looking forward to hearing this soon. that being said, i had some attention span issues with Death Spells so i'm a little concerned that this album is being characterized as somewhat formless

so far this album actually reminds me more of their 2015 EP, seems to be building where that left off

I think it sounds most like The Black Moon (which is a very good thing)

i remember trying to listen to Death Spells and the mix was distractingly bad, kind of the case here as well

"Pika likes this? Well that's a good sign lol"

Not sure if good sign or bad sign if he thinks DS is trash o.O

Haven’t quite finished this yet but I think I like it more than Death Spells. The mix of shorter and longer tracks is very nice and it’s feeling more consistent across the runtime rather than super frontloaded like Death Spells, which starts to lose me a bit around the 2/5 mark.

I like it more than death spells too

This is more focused despite the scattered nature of some of the songs

Death Spells is very cohesive atmospherically to me. I think the general structure of that album is unconventional but it flows really well from start to finish. Thematically it's very focused in the death and nature vibe which resonates strongly for me.

One listen into this, and I'm hooked. It feels very otherworldly in a paranormal transcendence vibe. It's not Death Spell pt. 2, and I'm glad they ventured more into the spacey-ness here. I have a lot of thoughts swirling around my head about this, but at this point I think it's an excellent follow-up to the incredibly high bar that was set with Death Spells.

It's cool that it's not like death spells, but it's not leaving an impact like that album or ep either. Definitely agree it's like Realms more than anything. Seems like the type of album to grow over time. Very excited about it and very impressed!

Yeah those crescendos become a bit much over the course of an hour, especially when the songs become a but more drifty and the crescendos more gradual toward the midpoint. My very early impression is Death Spells has a couple higher peaks but this is a more consistent and better overall listen.
